As many of you know, it has been a busy and exciting year for us at am3. We have a lot of things in the works and couldn’t have gotten this far without the ongoing support of our family, friends and clients. Today I am excited to share with you that Darlene was just listed as the most recent Spark and Hustle Daring Doer. So what is a Daring Doer? An audacious person fueled by wild passion and sheer determination. Rarely bothered by sleepless nights, she keeps her engine running on pure adrenaline and a commitment to doing good (serving her target market) and doing well (profiting big-time).  Never to be confused with an ordinary small business owner, she’s defying the odds, making money and building an empire. As a woman owned business we love meeting, promoting and supporting other incredible women who are working to grow their small businesses as...

Check out our St. Louis GoalFriend Chef Mel, her goals are coming to fruition and it’s exciting to watch it happen. Melissa Dodd-Ruesing turns her passion for food into a thriving business. By Laura Hazan, January 18, 2012 Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber member Melissa Dodd-Ruesing is like a superhero.  By day she is a mild-mannered physical therapist assisting patients with their health and wellness. By night she becomes Chef Mel. She dons her Chef Mel shirt and apron and mixes up delicious concoctions in her kitchen bringing tasty goodness to the citizens of St. Louis. In other words, she’s determined and works hard both day and night to make her business a success. It all started from a dream she had when she was five years old.  “I remember the dream so vividly. In it, I was going to grow up and own a restaurant with the best pasta sauce and...

While writing a note for his memorial service “The TED imperatives” came up in a blog she follows.  We are posting these words to live by in memory of Ted. The TED imperatives Be interested. Be generous. Be interesting. Connect. In that order… If all you can do is repeat cocktail party banalities about yourself, don’t come. If all you’re hoping for is to get more than you give, the annual event is not worth your time. If you’re not confident enough to share what you’re afraid of and what’s not working, you’re cheating yourself (and us). These aren’t just principles for TED, of course. They’re valid guidelines for any time you choose to stop hiding and step out into the world. It would be fabulous if people who were willing to commit to these four simple ideas had a...

By Angela Semwogerere When I was growing up, I had friends from all social classes. Nothing really mattered at that young age when it came to choosing friends except that we had common personal interests. If an interview was required in order to be selected as a potential friend, it would have probably entailed questions like, “Do you have any experience playing a game called hopscotch?” “Do you know how to climb to the top of a mango tree or guava tree without getting hurt?” Or “In a tough situation where Tom and Jerry was showing at the same time as Garfield, which cartoon would you prefer to watch?” As long as you said yes to the first two questions and would choose Garfield over the Disney characters then I saw absolutely no reason why we could not be friends. Come the teenage years and the overall process of friendship selection...
