Nothing really mattered at that young age when it came to choosing friends except that we had common personal interests. If an interview was required in order to be selected as a potential friend, it would have probably entailed questions like, “Do you have any experience playing a game called hopscotch?” “Do you know how to climb to the top of a mango tree or guava tree without getting hurt?” Or “In a tough situation where Tom and Jerry was showing at the same time as Garfield, which cartoon would you prefer to watch?” As long as you said yes to the first two questions and would choose Garfield over the Disney characters then I saw absolutely no reason why we could not be friends. The “Fruits of the Spirit” that are found in the Bible are: Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Faithfulness Gentleness Self-control.     Specifically, they are found in the book of Galatians, verses 22 & 23. As I explained, I think these are great personal brand attributes. But, for me, I know I can’t achieve them on my own, because they have a spiritual aspect to them. It is intentional awareness and evaluation on my part, but then combined with me also praying that God will help me along the way. I heard a teaching about this at my church that really made sense to me. He provided some definitions for each “fruit”  (for example—the difference between goodness and kindness) and also challenged me to rate myself on each one. Now that you have taken a week or so to decide what you want in your life, it is time to write your goals down; preferably in a notebook or journal but it will work just as well on a scratch piece of paper, post-it note, napkin...anything that is legible! This is the exciting part!

This is where the magic begins, where you start to realize the power of your own mind.

People, trust me. This really works!

I have 18 years of written goals that are documented proof. After all these years it is still mind blowing to me that something as simple as the act of writing it down can be so effective.
